Most of the Kienzler lab attended this year’s ACS-CVS Symposium on Frontiers in Organic Synthesis : Synthetic Chemistry of Value to Industry. Claire, Emmanuel, and Theo presented posters about their research to a spirited crowd of academic and professional chemists.

Today was another successful day of chemistry with over 100 students from 8 different Connecticut schools, through UConn’s ECE program.

The Kienzler lab warmly welcomes two new undergraduate researchers, Anna Coulter and Jose Matute into the lab!

The Kienzler lab went to Boston today to visit the Harvard Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments, enjoy the weather by the Charles River, and have a group meal.

Lots of great posters and talks were presented this Spring (April, really) by our undergrads:
Arjun presented his work at the R.T. Major Chemistry Symposium Poster session.

Sahiti and Carrie presented their work at the UConn’s Frontiers in Undergraduate Research symposium.

Michael V. presented his work at the Connecticut Valley Section of the American Chemical Society’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.

And last but not Least, Carrie presented at both the PNB and all Biology research presentations and was awarded the Biology Director’s Award!

Some more undergrad success to celebrate: Arjun was awarded a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), and Michael V. received an Idea Grant Award!

A hearty welcome and big congrats to Michael Vrionides, who joins us to expand his studies in the Mani Lab as a University Scholar!

The Kienzler lab has a bumper crop of new members this fall! A warm welcome to new graduate students Claire Nieder, Emmanuel Adjei, Himanshu Sharma, and Yucheng Zhang. We are also fortunate to welcome a new technician to the lab, Thumali Lavanaga!

The Kienzler lab is pleased to welcome two new undergraduate researchers, Arjun Ahuja and Hansuja Chaurasia, into the lab! They wasted no time getting into the lab and running reactions.

Today was UConn Chemistry May ECE Lab Day (MELD); it was the culmination of much planning and work to bring ~125 Connecticut high school students (from six different schools) to campus for a day of learning and hands on chemistry experimentation!  Many thanks to the faculty, staff, and students that helped make it a success.  A special thank you to Sahiti and Carrie for supervising a lab and troubleshooting experiments!
